Welcome!

Hey there! My name's Andrew Liu. I'm a software engineer/angel investor/event host/failed comedian/volunteer living in the Washington DC area.

I write mostly about tech-adjacent topics and lessons that I’ve gathered from my personal life.

About me

To see what I’m currently up to, check out the now page. If you're OSINT'ing me, please watch this Instagram Reel.

What I look like irl.

Professional

  1. I work at Google on the Privacy Sandbox within Chrome. In the past, I handled authentication at Google (i.e. the login page) and was the former maintainer of Google Authenticator.

  2. Between my stints at Google, I was at startups. During my time at Scale AI the company became a unicorn, and I founded their machine learning infrastructure team.

  3. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland in computer science. While a student, I also published some security research.

Personal

  • I played piano for 12 years as a kid before stopping in college. Recently I've started picking it back up.

  • In high school, I played Go competitively. I peaked at 1 kyu before stopping in college.

  • I currently train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Occasionally I perform improv and standup comedy.

  • I'm the vice president of the Asian Pacific Alumni Network for UMD. (If you're an Asian UMD alum or know of anyone who is, please hit me up.)

Getting in touch

The best way to reach me is to slide into my DMs. (Pick any platform. They're all on the same phone anyway.)
